What is 'The West'?
Grant's September Response
The west is a place in the USA that is on the western side of the Mississippi. It has a diverse landscape including plains, in which the sky seems to go on forever, forests, mountains, deserts, and much more. It is a place that has lots of natural beauty, and contains many National Parks. Among wild areas there are also man-dominated areas such as crop and cattle farms, cities, observatories, and ski resorts. Though I don’t know much about the culture, what little I know that it is a very diverse, and it ranges from farmers to conservationists, to ranchers, and many others. Also the west is the home of Native American. Some Native Americans lived on the plains following bison, as their main source of food, using every part of the animal. Then when the settlers came everything changed drastically, bison were mass hunted and the Native Americans’ way of life destroyed. Then the west slowly developed into what we know now.
